The following video contains interviews that were videotaped in September 2009 with Environmental Activist, member of REMA (Mexican Network of People affected by Mining) Mariano Abarca Roblero from Chicomuselo, Chiapas and his lawyers, Lic. Elvira Gordillo Rivera and Lic. Jose Alfredo Zunum Gonzalez from Comalapa, Chiapas.

Mariano was brutally murdered outside of his home on the night November 27, 2009 by a gunman on a motorcycle. Another member of REMA, Orlando Velazquez was gravely wounded in the same attack.

Mariano and REMA have been actively protesting the transnational Canadian mining company, Blackfire, that has a barium mine in their county.
